Statue of Saint John Paul II

The Statue of Saint John Paul II stands in John Paul II Square, in front of the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the centre of Oravská Polhora. It was unveiled in 2011 to honour the Pope, who had a deep love for the surrounding mountains and was closely associated with hikes to Babia Góra.

The monument is an important place of prayer and reflection for both locals and visitors. Together with the church and the square, it forms a peaceful spiritual landmark. Every year, a pilgrimage hike to Babia Góra, including an open-air Mass in memory of Saint John Paul II, is organised from Oravská Polhora. Location: John Paul II Square, Oravská Polhora
